Concrete Permeability Apparatus: MTCT-109 A concrete structure is considered to be of adequate durability if it performs in accordance with its intended level of functionality and serviceability over an expected or predicted life cycle. Concrete durability depends largely on the ease (or difficulty) with which fluids (water, carbon dioxide, oxygen) in the form of liquid or gas can migrate through the hardened concrete mass. Concrete is a porous material. Therefore, moisture movement can occur by flow, diffusion, or sorption. We are concerned with all three, but generally the overall potential for moisture in concrete by these three modes is referred to as its permeability. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION The set up consist of permeability cell, water reservoir and pressure lines, with glass bottles. Consists of a metal cylinder with a ledge at the bottom for retaining the specimen, a flange at the top, removable cover plate and a funnel. A rubber gasket is seated in matching grooves, between the cell and the cover plate, to render the joint water tight. Internal working size of the cell will be 100mm dia X 100mm hight. Concrete Test Hammer: MTCT-110 Concrete structures will need to be examined and tested to ensure the concrete remains of adequate strength and durability. Rebound hammer surveys can be conducted to provide a rough estimate of concrete strength, where it is not possible to determine this by more accurate means such as core extraction and testing. The test involves using a special rebound hammer, which measures the recoil of a piston against the concrete surface when a standard force is applied. This recoil can then be correlated approximately to concrete strength. SPECIFICATION The rebound hammer consists of a barrel in which is housed a hammer mass attached to an impact spring which slides on a guide bar. A plunger is attached to the guide bar which is pressed against the surface to be tested. As the piston is pressed against the surface to be tested, on reaching the compressive strength, the hammer mass is released and rebounds to a certain extent, according to the strength of the surface, which is indicated by a rider on a calibrated scale. A lock button fixed on the body of the hammer lock the rider in place and the rider can be reset to zero Position by using the same button. The equivalent compressive strength can be computed from the chart supplied. It is suitable for specimen of compressive strengths 100-700Kg/cm. Accelerated Curing Tank

Accelerated Curing Tank Accelerated Curing tank shall be constructed from any material of suitable strength that will resist the effect of corrosion. Internal dimension should be adequate to accommodate the required number and size of test specimen. The tank shall contain sufficient water and be controlled so that temperature of water around the specimen immersed in the tank is maintained at the desired level. EXPERIMENTAL PROGRAM-To get the early age strength through accelerated curing, warm water method was adopted. In this method, after the casting of cubes, specimen was cured at normal temperature for 24 hours and then put in accelerated tank on second day with temperature 80 for 5 hours and then 80c to falling temperature up to next day. After this period of curing, concrete cube specimen was tested for compressive strength and results are co-related with 28 and 56 days compressive strength of standard water curing. This co relation of accelerated strength and normal curing strength is achieved for all types of cement. To find the confident level of these relation seven different types of cement were used. This test is used to determine the workability of fresh concrete, which would normally be undertaken at the point of delivery to ensure the concrete, is of adequate consistency for placement. The method involves measuring the penetration resistance of a test sample, which has had coarse particles removed at periodic intervals.
